How to Qualify
The DVSA qualification process is split into three parts. You must pass all three to become a fully qualified ADI (Approved Driving Instructor).
Theory & Hazard Perception
A two-part test similar to the learner theory test but more advanced. You’ll need to demonstrate a professional level of knowledge of the Highway Code, driving techniques, and instructional methods.

Driving Ability
An advanced driving test. You must drive for about an hour on various road types, demonstrating expert handling, anticipation, and road safety. You are allowed very few minor faults.

Instructional Ability
The final hurdle. A DVSA examiner sits in the back while you give a real driving lesson to a pupil. You are assessed on your ability to plan learning, manage risk, and adapt your teaching style.
